This precious little 15 year old Chihuahua, Pena, is super sweet little lady, even though she must be feeling pretty crummy!. She has some teeth that are really infected (we discovered the issues because of how bad her mouth smells) and she is in desperate need of dental surgery. Besides having horrible teeth, Pena also has a pretty significant heart murmur. More than likely this is a result of extremely poor dental health. Mouth bacteria can travel and settle on the heart valves. It can cause permanently damage cardiac tissue and lead to heart disease and even heart failure. This bacteria can also cause liver damage, sepsis, and severe dental disease can lead to bone infections and a broken jaw. 

Once she its fully vetted, she will be looking for her forever home through the Westfield Animal Shelter.
